San Joaquín de Flores -Climate, Convenience, Character

San Joaquín de Flores de Heredia

Climate, Convenience, Character, Community and Charm!

What was once a sleepy rural community surrounded by lush greenery and the fragrant aroma of coffee blossoms, is now a bustling link between Alajuela, Juan Santa Maria International Airport and Heredia. Located in a unique microclimate -- a day never goes by without a little sunshine -- San Joaquín enjoys more sunshine and less rain than surrounding communities and its nights always bring on cool temperatures designed for sleeping comfortably.

Even though it is experiencing rapid growth, San Joaquín maintains its small town friendliness, sense of community and traditions. Each Sunday, friends, neighbors and family gather at the soccer fields for some friendly competition. Sunday is also the day you can treat yourself to a granizado made from cranked-while-you-wait ice cream. And each Easter, residents celebrate their longstanding tradition of processionals, beginning Good Friday on the south side of town at the church in Llorente and culminating several hours later at the historic church on the north side of town. Thousands marvel as the costumed “locals” re-enact the Twelve Stages of the Cross, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.

Convenience is a real plus living in San Joaquin. There are several restaurants – Chinese, sushi, chicken, pork and typical – and two major grocery stores. A large shopping mall is less than five minutes away. San Joaquín is less than half a mile from the autopista, ten minutes from the international airport, twenty minutes from the center of San José and under two hours from the west coast.

Yes, you can have your cake and eat it too ….. in San Joaquín. Best of all, real estate prices are still reasonable, so look now for living or investing!
